Call of Duty: Ghosts Sales Lacking Compared to Black Ops 2
While Call of Duty Ghosts may be doing very well compared to other game releases with the Xbox One and Playstation 4, it still falls short when compared to the previously released Black Ops 2 sales.
Exactly how far behind was Ghosts with Black Ops 2? A surprising 19% according to Cowen & Company, a market analysis firm.
What is the reason for Ghosts lacking numbers?
This could be due to several reasons. One of them being that they had to compete against many other great games released by Rockstar Games and EA Games, along with the new FIFA game. Another equally likely reason is that they released right smack in the middle of a new generation of consoles. Why is this important you may ask? Well most gamers probably decided to not purchase COD Ghosts for the PS3 and Xbox 360 because they wanted to hold off until they owned the next generation PlayStation and Xbox. The other reason why sales seem to be lacking is because Ghosts had a late November 15 & 22nd release as compared to the previous games being released closer to the beginning of November.
Whatever the reason being, Activision and Infinity Ward still brought in $1 billion dollars in day one sales in comparison to the $800 million dollar launch of Grand Theft Auto 5. This Call of Duty is certainly still a success and will help further propel Activision and the Call of Duty series into the future.
