Why Titanfall Won’t Destroy the Call of Duty Series or Steal Ghosts Players
There’s no question that Call of Duty: Ghosts has been lacking with next-generation consoles and that a lot of the dedicated Call of Duty fans are upset for various reasons, but does Titanfall really stand a chance at putting an end to the series?
Titanfall definitely brings an interesting aspect and puts a new spin on first-person shooters by allowing players to fight with mech-style Titans. What many people don’t know however is that the creators of Titanfall, Respawn Entertainment, were once senior employees at Infinity Ward and played a large part in the Call of Duty franchise.

So does Titanfall have a chance to destroy the Call of Duty franchise, or at the very least steal a lot of the current players of Call of Duty: Ghosts?
We don’t think so, and here’s why. Yes it’s true that a lot of Call of Duty Ghosts players will buy and play Titanfall on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but that’s as far as it will go. One of the shortfalls of Titanfall is that it will only be released for the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The Xbox was presented as an all-around entertainment device, while the PlayStation 4 next-gen console was purely designed for gaming. The mere fact that Respawn Entertainment will only release for Microsoft will stop them from being able to dominate the competition.
Upcoming Call of Duty Game in the hands of Sledgehammer Games
It was announced that the next Call of Duty game will be placed into the hands of Sledgehammer Games. Sledgehammer Games is known largely for working on the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward. This was one of the most successful Call of Duty releases to date, making 1 billion dollars in just 16 days. We believe that with such a large competition, Sledgehammer will step their game up to another level and release a Call of Duty game for the history books.
So while we don’t think that Titanfall will destroy the next or current Call of Duty game, we do believe that it will really shake things up with Activision, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer games and help bring us a really interesting fourth-quarter gaming release. Titanfall is also set to be released in March, which gives a huge gap between its release and the release of the next COD game.
