Will Ghost Be In Call of Duty Ghosts?
Over the past few months we have received countless emails and messages from people asking: “Will Ghost return in Call of Duty Ghosts?”
Sorry to say.. to be completely honest, we still have no idea. There has been no official word from Infinity Ward confirming whether he died or somehow survived, so I’m going to go through what we do know and help you make your own opinion.
Did Ghost Survive?
Well what we know for sure is he got shot in or near the chest during that epic mission from Modern Warfare 2.
Was this a killing blow?
It definitely could have been but there’s a good chance it wasn’t – pretty sure we’ve all seen characters survive much worse.. right?
After this we see Ghost dumped next to Roach (the character you play as in Call of Duty: MW2) who is having petrol (or some other flamable liquid) poured over him before Shepherd throws a lighter igniting him. Oh and yes.. we’re pretty damn sure Roach dies, there’s no surviving that.
Now from this, do we also assume Ghost gets burnt? We don’t see it but it is suggested considering he is so close. But surely if Infinity Ward never wanted him to come back they would have made it a bit more obvious that he was dead? Did they keep it unclear just to keep us hoping or did they actually have a plan to bring him back sometime in the future. They blatantly realise what a popular character he was.
Call of Duty Ghosts.. Surely Needs to Feature Ghost?
C’mon.. the game’s name is Call of Duty Ghosts. That just seems too coincidental to not feature Ghost in some way? If not fully alive then maybe a mission in the past from someone’s memory? Infinity Ward surely can’t create a game with such a name and not have Ghost in it? That would be too cruel.
Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley
So, Ghost’s full name was actually Simon Ghost Riley (there’s a pretty detailed analysis of his life at Call of Duty Wiki). Yes, Riley, recognise that name?
That’s right.. the German Shepherd (Shepherd.. coincidence, ooh this is getting weird), your canine squad member in Ghosts, is called Riley. Is this Infinity Ward’s way of a remembrance of Simon Ghost Riley? And is this a hint that Riley (the dog) is going to have a emotional death scene as well?
What am I even getting at here?
I don’t really know but what we can see is that Infinity Ward are playing with our minds and giving no straight answers.
The door is open to Ghost making a return and I for one seriously hope he does.
We have the video of Ghost being shot from Modern Warfare 2 below.. just to help bring back those sad memories.
What do you think – Will Ghost return? In fact do you even care or is it just a select few of us who care? Let us know below!
